Youth from Rossbrook House were invited to the Blue Bomber game on September 27. They cheered on the Bombers in their 40-3 win against the Tiger-Cats. Fans included over 1,000 youth from the North at this 'Orange Shirt Game'.

We’re wearing orange, are you?
Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.
The day honours the children who never returned home, and all Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities. We wear orange to show that Every Child Matters!

Thanks to a generous donor, all Rossbrook House participants today have received orange t-shirts with Junior Staff/Rising Sun graduate Trinity’s design called ‘Nurturing the Child’.
Trinity told the Winnipeg Free Press Community Review: “When I was creating it, I thought of Indigenous culture and how Indigenous culture is important with Rossbrook (House’s) values. I actually got the Medicine Wheel symbol from artwork that’s basically on the ceiling, hanging from it. They have the colors of the Medicine Wheel. And I put it in a heart to symbolize community and love.”

Delicious daily meals are made in the Rossbrook House kitchen. There is an after-school meal waiting for the children and youth each weekday plus, brunch and a late afternoon meal on the weekends. Ages 6 to 24 are welcome.

Young moms and their children take part in an engaging weekly program at Rossbrook House where they find peer support, take part in fun activities, and learn new skills. We’re currently inviting new participants to apply.
If you are expecting and/or parenting and are between the ages of 15 and 24, you can apply now. The Young Mothers’ Program meets on Wednesday evenings and includes a light snack. A Knowledge Keeper and Public Health Nurse also visit monthly.

Rossbrook House is open 24 hours all weekend for ages 6 to 24. There are drop-in programs, activities like pool and video games, daily meals, and safe rides home each evening for the participants.

The Centennial Community BBQ took place on September 20. Despite the heavy rains, the barbecue went on inside Rossbrook House. It was an opportunity for the community to learn more about the organizations that hosted it.
Thank you to Central District Commander Helen Peters and members of the Cadet Unit for being there. There was a bouncy house, face painting, Pow Wow dancing, food and lots of fun for everyone who braved the rain outside.
The annual barbecue is hosted by the City of Winnipeg, Rossbrook House, IRCOM (Immigrant & Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba), and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Winnipeg.

All ages can enjoy a trip to Flying Squirrel. There are lots of active ways to have fun- including jousting with foam, climbing, and jumping into giant foam pits! Youth recently went on this outing with Rossbrook House.
Rossbrook House has daily programs and activities for ages 6-11 and 12 to 17 and supports for ages 18 to 24.

A fun outdoor game that youth are playing at Rossbrook House is called Jackpot.
One person throws a football to a group of people. The person throwing the ball yells out a number. The person who catches the ball gets those points. They continue until they reach 10,000. It’s a simple and fun way to be active outdoors with your friends.

Fall programs have begun at Rossbrook House and include Learning Always, Leadership, drop-in music lessons, van rides, fun outings, and more! Children and youth ages 6 to 24 can drop in after school or anytime on weekends. There is also a meal each day after-school and two on weekends. Plus, safe rides home for participants.

The leaves have begun to change colour, 🍁🍂the geese can be heard overhead, and the air is crisp overnight as we head into the next season.
