Sister Geraldine MacNamara (1938-1984) Rossbrook House is proud to announce that Sister Gerry has been selected to receive recognition as a Manitoba 150 Women Trailblazer award recipient. Women Trailblazers In partnership with the Winnipeg Free Press, the Nellie McClung Foundation introduces the 150 Manitoba Women Trailblazer Awards. Saluting the contributions that Manitoba woman have made to social justice, arts, sports, politics, community activities and promoting democracy while developing this great province. These Trailblazer Awards will honour Nellie McClung’s vision by recognizing the spirit of her life’s work being advanced by women leaders of today or throughout Manitoba’s history. Generations of Pow Wow Dancing
The annual Rossbrook House Pow Wow will, unfortunately, not be happening this spring as planned. This tradition has been a huge part of Rossbrook House for 38 years! Many participants and former students have fond memories of the Rossbrook House Pow Wow. As so many other events around the world, the Pow Wow has been canceled. Farewell Concert
The Barrel Boys and The O’Pears were in Winnipeg to perform at the West End Cultural Centre. They also gave a performance at Rossbrook House in honour of Sister Bernadette O’Reilly and Sister Margaret Hughes. They had the crowd clapping and singing along, and up on their feet. It was a special evening. As Rossbrook House Executive Director Phil Chiappetta said, “The Sisters wanted something simple and at Rossbrook. Saying Goodbye is Not Easy
The spring of 2019 the Rossbrook House community will be saying farewell to two long-time members. Sister Bernadette O’Reilly and Sister Margaret Hughes (Sisters of Sion) will be leaving the city that has been their home for 40 years to join the Sion community in Saskatoon. It’s hard to imagine Rossbrook House being what it is today without their influence. And it is equally as difficult to imagine them not being present at every future event. #NoChildAlone2019 dinner
Thank you to the almost 600 guests who attended the #NoChildAlone2019 dinner January 24. This was only the 2nd time in 43 years that Rossbrook House held an event like this. We were thrilled to see so many friends, community and agency members, and supporters. It was our pleasure to bring Rossbrook House to you at the Canad Inns Destination Centre Polo Park. Each of the guests received a decorated tile made by one of the many Rossbrook House participants or students.
