Asking for Your Assistance!

Hello, Since I retired from Peak of the Market, I have increased my time volunteering with Rossbrook House Foundation, and I’m honoured to be the Chair of the Board. I have come to realize that many people haven’t heard of Rossbrook House or the great things they do for our community. I’m dedicated to getting the word out about Rossbrook House and I need your help. I’m excited to share details about the first-ever Radiothon in support of Rossbrook House. On Friday, February 14, the ‘Show Your Heart’ Radiothon will be live on 680 CJOB from 9am to 5pm

Support 2024

Valerie Henderson first discovered Rossbrook House when she was just 12 years old. Today she is a long-time staff member, a mother, and a grandmother, who has seen many young people walk through the doors of Rossbrook House.   “I’ve been working evenings at Rossbrook House for a couple of decades. When I’m driving to work most people are going home after a long day. Children and youth are making their way to their second home, Rossbrook House.  Many drop in every day. They take the bus or are dropped off by their caregivers or social workers, ride their scooters

Support Children and Youth

Jennifer Flamand, has been involved with Rossbrook House since 2009 as a teacher in two of their off-campus schools, Eagles’ Circle Junior High and Rising Sun High School. The connections that we form with students are like no other school I have ever experienced. The spaces provided to us by Rossbrook House provide a comfortable atmosphere. The smaller class size and the feeling of belonging are a huge part of why these schools work for our students. I have worked with the Rossbrook House staff in many different aspects of my job. I love how they hire from within and

Confused by legacy gifts?

To assist with ensuring the best stewarding of Rossbrook House supporters and donations, Rossbrook House Foundation is a proud member of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP) Manitoba Chapter. “CAGP Manitoba is the province’s premier organization for fundraisers and professional advisors who support their donors and clients to make philanthropic planned and legacy gifts.”   Wait, aren’t planned and legacy gifts the same thing?  While legacy gifts are planned gifts, they are not the only type of planned gift. Another way to think of planned giving is as strategic charitable giving. “Strategic charitable gift planning is a donor-centred process of

Make a Difference this December

Rossbrook House gave me a second chance at life. Gangs, crime, and poverty made it tough to grow up in the inner city. For my siblings and me, Rossbrook House was a safe place to go after school and on weekends. We had meals and fun activities! My childhood was not the greatest, but every day that I walked through those doors, I felt at home. Rossbrook House helped me to feel like a ‘regular kid’.  I am a former staff and participant of Rossbrook House. Growing up in the neighborhood was very tough, with a lot of gangs,

Ways to Support Rossbrook House- Part 2

As touched on in September’s article, supporting an organization or cause can take many forms, from volunteering to donating to advocacy. The form can often vary from person to person based on their individual resources, priorities, capacity, and values. With that in mind, Rossbrook House Foundation is pleased to offer its supporters a variety of ways to support the Foundation and Rossbrook House. Volunteering Rossbrook House Foundation is grateful for a dedicated volunteer board of directors and various committees. The board, assisted by the committees & Foundation staff, strives, through various fundraising activities and stewardship of investments, to meet or exceed the

Can you help?

Thank you to all who have donated. The work has begun as of late summer/early fall 2023. Rossbrook House needs your help. We need to raise $150,000 for cleaner air and a safer physical environment. Rossbrook House is working with Rossbrook House Foundation to better serve the children and youth who drop in for learning, fun, and daily meals. The heating and air conditioning system at 658 Ross Avenue needs to be upgraded. We need a new HVAC system and mould remediation. At the same time, we want to add sound-absorbing material in the main hall so that the acoustics are

Planned gifts

Rossbrook House Foundation has chosen to use Leave a Legacy Month to spread the word that Rossbrook House is set up to accept planned gifts, including those left in wills. Gifts made today are appreciated and help ensure that “no child who does not want to be alone, should ever have to be”. However, planned gifts will make a difference in the lives that follow. Ensuring that in the future Rossbrook House continues to be a safe place for children and youth living in the inner-city of Winnipeg, to belong, play, learn and become… Click here to read more about
