Moving into 2024
As we move into 2024 Rossbrook House Foundation reflects on 2023 while looking forward. The Foundation has three strategic goals broken into smaller projects. Goal – Nurturing Donor Relationships In 2023 Rossbrook House Foundation employed various friend-raising initiatives, including a Paint Day and Fall Gathering Luncheon, both in person at Rossbrook House. Foundation staff also attended networking events, such as Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce luncheons, to spread the word about Rossbrook House. Throughout 2023 the Foundation created personalized connections with donors, all while respecting their communicated contact preferences. One way this was done was through Board members calling 2023

Make a Difference this December
Rossbrook House gave me a second chance at life. Gangs, crime, and poverty made it tough to grow up in the inner city. For my siblings and me, Rossbrook House was a safe place to go after school and on weekends. We had meals and fun activities! My childhood was not the greatest, but every day that I walked through those doors, I felt at home. Rossbrook House helped me to feel like a ‘regular kid’. I am a former staff and participant of Rossbrook House. Growing up in the neighborhood was very tough, with a lot of gangs,

Sister Carol Peloquin took over running it in January of 1983 and did so for nine years until it closed At the age of 13, Rachel became a resident of Meegwetch House. Ways to Support Rossbrook House- Part 2
As touched on in September’s article, supporting an organization or cause can take many forms, from volunteering to donating to advocacy. The form can often vary from person to person based on their individual resources, priorities, capacity, and values. With that in mind, Rossbrook House Foundation is pleased to offer its supporters a variety of ways to support the Foundation and Rossbrook House. Volunteering Rossbrook House Foundation is grateful for a dedicated volunteer board of directors and various committees. Exciting New Project
47 years ago, an empty United Church on the corner of Ross Avenue and Sherbrook Street in Winnipeg became Rossbrook House. Young people were often found lounging and, sometimes, resting on the left-behind pews. Today, while we still hold the values created by Sister Geraldine MacNamara and the youth who created this inner-city drop-in centre, a lot has changed. Rossbrook House remains a safe haven for children and youth. It is a place for programming, meals, and to meet friends. In the spirit of reconciliation, Rossbrook House is working towards being an inclusive space for all. After consultation

Patty’s First Year
Patty Mainville has been the Executive Director of Rossbrook House since September 2022. Here she shares her thoughts about the past year and the future of Rossbrook House and the children and youth that it serves. As I reflect on the last year it has been a year of events, meeting new friends to Rossbrook House, watching as our fabulous staff keep our kids engaged which keeps them safe, witnessing our staff make connections with our participants, and a whirlwind of activities that happen here daily. The job is so diverse that every day brings something new with so
