Twenty-six-year-old Cheyenne Campbell started attending Rossbrook House before the age minimum. Her mother, Audrey, was a full-time staff (and still fills in casual when she isn’t teaching) and brought her children to Rossbrook House events. Later, they attended on their own, taking part in outings, programs and activities.

Cheyenne is in the stroller.
Summer is particularly memorable to Cheyenne.
“I had a lot of fun as a child, but going to Rossbrook House I was able to do things like going to the beach, outdoor pools, Tinkertown, and Fun Mountain,” she said. “There were always lots of outings in the summers. I spent a lot of my childhood at Rossbrook House.”
“When I attended Rossbrook House in the summers, we would always be outside or playing in the gym. We would go to the beach almost everyday, swim and have sandwiches and chips. On the way back we would grab a Slurpee. During the annual summer games, the staff would prepare games for us out in the field across from Rossbrook House. We were hardly indoors.”
Today, she is a staff member just like her mother was, and a mom to a two-year-old son, hoping to make connections with the participants.
“Now, as a senior staff, I make sure to interact with the children and youth during the outings and games. The children and youth look up to us and that means a lot to me. I hope I am helping to make memories for them, like the staff did for me when I was growing up at Rossbrook House.”
24 hour Summer Fun!
Rossbrook House has been keeping its doors open 24 hours all summer long for 49 years! As you can imagine, this takes a lot of planning, staffing, and supplies. The goal is to always be a safe place for children and youth, every day, and 24 hours all summer long.
This summer we’ll be providing meals twice each day, safe rides home each evening, and fun activities and programs like a playroom for ages 6-11, camp for ages 12+, trips to the beach, outings to local parks and pools, crafts, games, and more!
