The Phil Chiappetta Opportunities Fund was established in 2022 by Phil’s St. Paul’s High School Class of ’75 classmates in honour of his retirement from Rossbrook House and Rossbrook House Foundation, and to recognize his years of service to children and youth.
“When we got together to think of ways to honour Phil Chiappetta, we thought about the fact that there isn’t any greater purpose than to be of help to others. Our friend Phil has dedicated his life to just that.”
– St. Paul’s High School Class of ‘75
The hopes, dreams, and ideas of the participants are what determine the programs and direction of Rossbrook House. Ever the gentle and good-natured leader, Phil has embodied the values that friendship grows through play, and a sense of family is created through shared experiences.
The Phil Chiappetta Opportunities Fund serves to support special programs and activities for children and youth, led by Rossbrook House, which might otherwise not be available under the budgeted program and activities of Rossbrook.
Suggested examples:
- Participants express an interest in a particular activity – could be gymnastics or hip-hop classes, learning how to bead earrings or moccasins or decorate multi-layer cakes. Volunteer leaders have stepped up, but a funds are not readily available to cover supplies such as gym mats, jewelry-making tools/beads, appropriate footwear, or baking tools/ingredients. Rossbrook House staff could apply to the Phil Chiappetta Opportunities Fund to get things started.
- Rossbrook House White Sash Program staff and participants are invited to attend an event with prominent dignitaries. After consultation with those involved, including the kids, Rossbrook House staff might apply to the Phil Chiappetta Opportunities Fund to help each individual purchase an appropriate outfit.
All gifts received by Rossbrook House, and the Foundation in Phil’s honour will be directed to this Fund unless otherwise specified by the donor.
