And How Was Your Summer?

July and August at Rossbrook House mean open doors 24 hours a day. It means a safe place for children and youth to hang out. Which also means a lot of planned activities and outings. Like every other Summer for the past 40 years, 2016 was a busy one!

The highlight for most kids is probably camp. A week at Camp Maskwa to water ski, swim and eat camp-fire food is always a great time! The younger kids will have an overnight camp closer to home. And there is day camp at Camp Manitou where they can zip-line, rock climb and learn to paddle a canoe. So much fun in the sun and the kids can’t help but fall asleep in the van on the ride home.

Daily outings like Fun Mountain, the beach and Lilac Resort are day trips where the kids help to pack a picnic lunch and board the vans for a day of swimming and splashing! So many fun outings…bowling, roller-skating, miniature golf,  the Forks, the Zoo…

A big treat this Summer was the Assiniboine Park Zoo’s Wildest Dreams event. We loaded up the bus with 60 kids and their families and it was a fabulous evening! Guests were welcomed by volunteers, mascots and princesses and given the royal tour!

And of course there is lots to do in the building too… from making rockets, growing plants, tie-dyeing shirts, craft-making and hanging out with friends. The Summer traditionally ends with the Summer Games and a big feast!

The many smiling faces are the reward for another Summer done Rossbrook Style!
