While we aren’t having a party due to the COVID pandemic, we are celebrating this special day. Since 1976, Rossbrook House has been a part of the community, providing programming, jobs, and so much more for children and youth.
What started all those years ago as a place for older teens to hang out is now a place for ages 6 to 24, with a variety of after-school programming and activities. Daily after-school meals are also provided.
“I think in some ways, right from the beginning, Rossbrook was trying to expand kids’ horizons,” Executive Director Phil Chiappetta said. “But part of that was just to get kids outside of the regular environment that they’d always been in.”
Rossbrook House is open 24 hours every weekend and all school holidays.
“It’s not like I come to work every day, it’s something that I come to and enjoy the younger people. And to see them joyous and taking advantage of our programs and activities,” said Operations Manager Warren Goulet. “It’s a home away from home for a lot of our younger people.”
