Honorary Co-Chairs of the event:
We are thrilled to feature Rossbrook House Executive Director, Patty Mainville, and Rossbrook House Supervisor/Youth Worker, Autumn Batangan, as honorary co-chairs of this event. Both Patty and Autumn have a long history with Rossbrook House and will share their stories about how Rossbrook House and its community has impacted their lives.
Autumn Batangan
Rossbrook House Youth Worker/Supervisor & Former Participant
Hearing the stories of how much fun her older sisters were having at Rossbrook House, Autumn was anxious to attend as young as five years old. ‘I’ve loved it ever since’, she says. Autumn has many fond memories of growing up at Rossbrook House, including how close she is with her many cousins and meeting her best friend. ‘It’s more than a community centre. It’s more like a second home to a lot of these kids. To me, it’s a second home.’ Autumn graduated from Rising Sun high school. Today Autumn is a youth worker with Rossbrook House. Her devotion to the children is evident and shows in how she interacts with them.
Patricia Mainville
Rossbrook House Executive Director & Former Participant
Patty is Anishinaabe, and a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She has a long history with Rossbrook House – a former participant, a junior staff member, a graduate of Rising Sun School, and later a Board member. She has also been giving back over many years as a dance and cultural advisor for the annual Rossbrook House Pow Wow. ‘Rossbrook House is a special place where, when you walk in the doors and see and hear the buzz of the building, you feel the spirit of Rossbrook House. It is a hard place to leave’, she says. Patty retired from a 20-year career as a teacher and principal in the Winnipeg School Division, to become the Executive Director of Rossbrook House in 2022.
